Privacy Policy — Skip Sense

1. What we collect

1.1 Account information

If you create an account or sign in (email/password or Google via Firebase Authentication), we may process:

• Email address
• Display name (if you or Google provide it)
• Firebase user identifier
• Authentication tokens issued by our servers after we verify Firebase

1.2 YouTube-related data

When you use analysis features, our systems may process:

• YouTube video IDs you request to analyze
• Caption / transcript text fetched for that video (server-side) to detect likely sponsor segments
• Derived data: timestamps for suggested segments, caching of results to serve you and other users (where applicable)

1.3 Usage and product data

We may process:

• Sense Credits usage and tier (Scout / Ghost)
• Preferences stored in the extension (e.g. Auto Sense, Auto Skip)
• Optional statistics you agree to send (e.g. reclaimed watch time), if implemented
• Technical data: IP address, user agent, and standard server logs (via our hosting provider)

1.4 Payments

Paid plans are processed by Stripe. We receive billing-related identifiers and subscription or payment status from Stripe—not your full card number (Stripe handles card data).

2. How we use data

• Provide sign-in and secure sessions
• Run sponsor detection and deliver results to the extension
• Enforce credit limits and tier features
• Operate billing and customer support
• Improve reliability, security, and abuse prevention
• Comply with law and enforce our terms

3. Legal bases (if EEA/UK applies)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on contract (providing the service), legitimate interests (security, improvement, fraud prevention), and, where required, consent (e.g. optional analytics or marketing).

4. Sharing with third parties

We may share data with service providers who process it on our instructions:

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication
• Stripe — payments
• Hosting and database providers — API and storage
• AI provider (e.g. OpenAI) — transcript analysis on our servers (not direct extension-to-OpenAI calls)

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

5. Retention

We retain account and usage data as long as your account is active and as needed for billing, legal, and security purposes. Cached analyses may be retained to improve performance for the community; you may request deletion subject to legal exceptions.

6. Security

We use HTTPS for API traffic and industry-standard practices for access control and secrets. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Your rights

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object or withdraw consent. Contact us at the email above. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

8. Children

Skip Sense is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. International transfers

If you are outside the country where we operate, data may be processed in other countries. We use appropriate safeguards where required.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new date and, where appropriate, notify you through the extension or email.
